ICX brought Sam Ingham to our group as a Staffing Recruiter to help fill out our staffing group and she brings infectious energy and a sunny disposure that matches this lovely region we serve! We sat down with her and asked her to share a little about her career path, what attracted her to recruiting and a few fun things about herself. Read on to learn more about this valuable member of the team!
You made a HUGE career change from teaching to recruiting – what attracted you to the recruiting industry?
Come to find out, these two professions have a lot more in common than you would think! Teaching is a very rewarding position. I truly had some of the best years in my career educating young children. The impact you make on their lives is unforgettable for both the teacher and student. Children love to learn at a young age. They need an encouraging motivator and guiding light to start them on their path of greater education. I also feel like this inspiration can be shared in the recruiting industry. As adults, we sometimes forget about the excitement that comes with growth. Recruiting is still about guiding others as they take on professional goals.
What is the most rewarding part of recruiting for this division?
The most rewarding part of a staffing recruiter’s role is the excitement and joy in one’s voice after assisting them in their next career move. There are no greater words than “Thank you so much” or “I couldn’t have done this without you” from a grateful candidate. It’s not an easy task in the job searching world so being alongside someone to help with the challenges of finding the “right fit” is ultimately the best reward.
How were you introduced to the ICX Group?
The Froats family! While studying to obtain my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education, I watched the President of ICX Group, Todd Froats’ three amazing boys and worked part time for ICX group as the Office Assistant. Though I left to become a teacher, it is no surprise my path has led me back to ICX Group. They had a great team back then and the company continues to thrive to this day.
What’s the best part of joining a growing organization like ICX Group?
ICX group truly strives to keep a great company culture and the senior leaders motivate us all to achieve our goals. Not only have I connected and learned from successful co-workers, but I have also gained some incredible friendships. How could you not love ICX Group?
What’s the most challenging part of this job?
The most challenging part of recruiting would be trying to accommodate each candidates’ requests to match each client’s offer for a position. There are many times where those two ends do not meet when discussing specifics like work environment and desired salary. ICX staffing recruiters always try the best we can in assisting both sides.
Do you think the “great resignation” is a good or bad thing long-term?
It’s hard to say. People resign for many different reasons. The question to ask is WHY did they quit? Was it a toxic work environment? Was it affecting their value of a work life balance? When instead referred to as the “Great Reshuffle”, the positivity can be seen in restarting somewhere fresh.
